Wow. Talk about never giving up. Or not giving up without a fight. Sometimes it's best to give up and walk away with a modicum of respect. Apparently, Toshiba doesn't think so.
We all know that Blu-ray beat out Toshiba-backed HD DVD. Toshiba hasn't announced plans to produce Blu-ray, and this latest news is just bizarre.

Talk about dragging your feet. It seems like years ago that XM and Sirius proposed a merger. The Justice Department approved the merger months ago, and finally, it looks like the FCC will reach a decision by the end of June. Finally!
In a report in the Washington Post, FCC chairman Kevin Martin admitted
that the merger isn't on the June agenda, but says the commission could
act by the end of the second quarter.
What's been the hang up?

YelloMosquito just lowered the price on their Qingbar GP300 wireless video glasses. The GP300 were the world's first wireless LCOS video glasses with a media player built in. Originally priced at $399, they're on sale right now for $299. Where's my credit card?
They simulate the experience of a 50-inch screen viewed from 6 feet away (field of view is 22 degrees) with a resolution of 432 x 240. There are built-in earphones with four preset EQ modes -- the frequency response is a respectable 20 Hz - 20,000Hz.

Blockbuster is launching a test program of download kiosks in their stores -- customers come in with a portable storage device or player, pay $3.99, and download a movie right to the device. Only a few studios are on board right now, but Blockbuster is hoping to have all of the majors involved soon.
Gotta ask: what are they thinking?

News from the Netflix Investor Day was quite interesting. The CEO of Netflix, Reed Hastings, said that the DVD-by-mail business will peak in as soon as five years. What? That's not going to inspire confidence in investors, will it? Good news for Wall Street, though. He does expect 10 million subscribers by next year, and once they move into the streaming DVD market, hopes to get over 20 million folks signed up. What's the hidden message here?
